We are headquartered in Chico, California, the company employs more than 630 people most of which are all in office. This year we are looking to adventure into other locations as well as expanding our isles.

The position:

The Email Specialist is responsible for facilitating promotional marketing campaigns, from inception through execution. They will work with the Merchandising, Design, Operations, and Development departments to ensure alignment with business requirements. This individual will be responsible for creating, testing, analyzing and reporting on new and existing email campaigns, identifying new email marketing opportunities, and working with other departments in the development of email campaigns. They are expected to learn about new features of the ESP and train other team members accordingly. Finally, this person will be responsible for troubleshooting any issues with the ESP, including deliverability issues, data import/export failures, and campaign malfunctions.

Top 5 Projects in your first 90 days:

* Learn the ins-and-outs of Selligent

* Plan out promotional email campaigns for both Build.com and the niche sites

* Successfully code, deploy, and report on your very own email campaigns

* Assist the rest of the email team with various tasks, as needed

* Write 'Marshal Is Awesome' on at least 3 blank whiteboards

Some struggles you may have:

* Learning HTML and CSS

* Understanding how to use Selligent

* Prioritizing your work (there's a lot to do!)

Activities will include all of these things, and even some stuff that's not included on this list:

* Scope out new projects/campaign functionality based on company/customer needs

* Analyze email performance in order to test and optimize campaigns that maximize company revenue

* Create detailed campaign analysis and concisely report performance back to stakeholders

* Utilize HTML, CSS, and SQL to build email campaigns that are free of errors and render properly on all browsers

* Monitor & update day-to-day email performance metrics (opens, clicks, revenue, etc)

* Research and stay current on new email marketing trends

* Identify new opportunities to grow the channel

* Collaborating with various people/departments/services to scope out automation, new campaigns, new types of email campaigns and/or functionality

* Monitor & update email classifications for web analytics platform (Omniture)

What are you going to bring to the table:

* Work requires continual attention to detail in reports & analyses, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

* Strong analytical & report building skills

* Strong knowledge of Excel is preferred as well as some HTML & CSS coding

* Good eyeballs for design and layout aesthetics would rock

* Demonstrated technical and creative writing skills

* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

* Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.

* Must be able to use and turn on a computer! Or know some software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (Office: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
